The Macedonian denar is Macedonia's official currency, divided into 100 deni. Banknotes range from 10 to 5000 denars, and coins include 1, 2, 5 denars and 50 deni.
Introduced in 1992, the denar replaced the Yugoslav dinar. In 1993, it was reformed, with 1 new denar equal to 100 old denars.
Most denar denominations have identical designs, as one press worker created the designs in a week. The banknotes represent the Macedonian people's struggle for peace and freedom.
