The Jordanian dinar is Jordan's official currency, divided into 1000 fils, 10 dirhams, or 100 piasters. Banknotes are in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 20, and 50, while coins include 0.5, 1, 2.5, 5, and 10 dinars.
It replaced the Palestine pound in 1950 after Jordan's independence in 1946.
Initially, coins were labeled in English, but this was discontinued, and dirhams and piasters are no longer used.
