The Georgian lari is the currency of Georgia, divided into 100 tetri. Banknotes are available in denominations from 1 to 500, and coins in 1, 2 lari and 1 to 50 tetri.
Introduced in 1993, the lari replaced the Soviet ruble and initially included only banknotes. Coins were introduced in 2006.
After its introduction, Georgia faced hyperinflation. In 1995, the lari was redenominated at one to one million, stabilizing the currency.
