The Yemeni rial is the currency of Yemen, divided into 100 fils, though fils are no longer used. Banknotes range from 50 to 1000 rials, and coins from 1 to 20 rials.
Introduced as an independent currency in 1990 after Yemen's unification, it replaced the dinar by 1993.
During unification, rubles were widely used but were replaced by rial coins in 1993, which were then switched to banknotes in 1995.
