Ukrainian hryvnia UAH

The Ukrainian hryvnia is the official currency of Ukraine. This currency is also unofficially used by Russia and Transnistria. One hryvnia is divided into 100 kopecks. This currency is issued by the National Bank of Ukraine. In circulation are 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, and 500 hryvnia banknotes, as well as 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 kopeck coins and 1 hryvnia coins.

History of the Ukrainian Hryvnia

The Ukrainian hryvnia was first introduced in 1918, but it was not used for long. In 1996, the hryvnia became the national currency of Ukraine again, and updated design banknotes were issued. After the annexation of Crimea in 2014, the hryvnia became unused in that region.
