The euro (EUR) is the official currency of 19 EU countries, introduced in 2002. Each country issues coins with unique designs, but the currency is shared. The euro symbol (€) comes from the Greek letter epsilon, symbolizing EU stability. Lithuania adopted the euro in 2015. It is the second most traded currency globally, with a circulation of over 1.3 trillion euros. Euro coins are available in 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 cents, and 1 and 2 euros. The Eurozone includes 19 countries, used by about 343 million people.
